The artwork “CONNECTED” is based on different aspects of neuroscience and its
impact on our everyday life.

The artists were inspired by the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1906 that was awarded to Camillo Golgi and Santiago Ramón y Cajal in recognition for their work “on the structure of the nervous system”.

By developing methods that could colour and highlight its key components, Golgi
and Cajal allowed the anatomy of the nervous system to be observed and
documented in precise detail. This is showcased in this artwork through the ways the two giant inflatable neuron cells communicate, send, and receive colour signals from each other.

This artwork was produced for the Zsolnay Light Festival in cooperation with the University of Pécs Medical School in Hungary, 2021.

Koros Design is a hungarian design studio consisting of Réka Magyar and Péter Koros. They specialize in creating large scale inflatable light installations.
